Minor in Gender Studies

If you’re interested in linking your coursework to real justice issues in the community and the wider world, consider completing a Minor in Gender Studies. Our courses use approaches from fields as diverse as theatre, international relations, and linguistics to investigate how gender and sexuality operate in people’s lives and the world. Some of the questions you might explore in our courses are things like:

• How does housing precarity affect women and 2SLGBTQ+ folks in Hamilton?
• Why are people getting killed at baby gender reveal parties?
• Does speaking a language with masculine and feminine endings shape how you think about the world?
• How did the Covid pandemic affect the careers of people with and without children?
• Why did the Ontario government revise the elementary Health curriculum, and what does it mean for kids?

Add a Minor in Gender Studies to your program to enhance your career path in policy, education, health care, activism, law, government, and many more. The Minor is also good preparation for McMaster’s MA in Gender and Social Justice.
